Evidence: Traveled Three Days—Lehi’s Journey to the First Camp

When Biblical characters fled Jerusalem or the surrounding areas, they almost always traveled to Egypt. Therefore, many scholars have taken issue with the idea that Lehi and his family traveled southeast from Jerusalem into Arabia. However, this route, which took Lehi’s group to the end of the Red Sea, is congruent with recent evidence regarding travel in the sixth and seventh centuries b.c. (See Echoes, 56, 59.)
