How was Lehi a descendant of Joseph?

Through the tribe of Manasseh, Lehi was a descendant of Joseph who was sold into Egypt (Alma 10:3). It appears that Ishmael’s family was descended from Ephraim. President Franklin D. Richards recounted hearing the Prophet Joseph say that Ishmael’s genealogy was recorded in the lost 116 pages of the Book of Mormon manuscript (see “Origin,” 425).
