How will the brass plates “go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people”?

Thomas R. Valletta

This prophecy by Lehi can be interpreted multiple ways. The doctrines, ideas, and principles from which the prophets of the Book of Mormon taught come directly from the book itself. In this way, the brass plates are going forth to all nations, kindreds, tongues, and peoples (see JS–H 1:33; Alma 37:1–4). Further, Elder Bruce R. McConkie suggested that in a future day “the Lord will raise up a prophet, who will also be a seer and a translator to whom he will give the brass plates that they may be translated for the benefit and blessing of those in all nations” (“Doctrinal Restoration,” 16).
