Lehi and Nephi experienced frustrations similar to those of earlier prophets who likewise dealt with rebellious souls. Moses once declared to wayward Israel: “Take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons” (Deuteronomy 4:9). Here Nephi reminded his brothers of all God had done for them to elicit more faith and obedience from his very forgetful brothers.
