What is meant by the expression that “no unclean thing can dwell with God”?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Every soul will be taken back to God’s presence for judgment (2 Nephi 2:10; 9:22, 38; Alma 11:41, 44; 42:23; Helaman 14:15–17; Mormon 9:12–14). Those who sought to do wickedly and refused to repent will be found unclean and because ‘no unclean thing can dwell with God,’ they will have to be escorted right back out of his presence—permanently. ‘All men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence’ (Moses 6:57)” (Ogden and Skinner, Book of Mormon, 1:47).
